Abstract

Art is considered a noble message among the peoples of the world, through which communication takes place between humans of different races, cultures, and languages—whether this communication is visual or auditory. The artist’s message must be conveyed in forms familiar to people, as these represent a shared ground among all. From this perspective, it becomes necessary to study the artistic phenomenon: does it adhere to both subjectivity and objectivity together, or can it fulfill its message even if it stands alone?

To convey the correct image to the recipient, there must be an integration between the artist’s (subjectivity) and the (objectivity) of the subject in the artistic message. Subjectivity without objectivity may lead to ambiguity, verbosity, and confusion for the audience, while objectivity without subjectivity may, on one hand, become mere imitation of nature, and on the other hand, lack life and creativity.

The solution lies in the fusion of objectivity with the artist’s subjectivity. Through this equation, a balanced relationship can be established between the creator and the audience. The more the artist applies this balance, the more it enhances the understanding and appreciation of the artwork—whether it is painting, poetry, or other forms of art. Objective reality, represented in words, shapes, and visuals, remains lifeless without the infusion of the artist’s spirit, self, and creative mind.
