Abstract

This research attempts to formulate a biomechanical model explaining the neuromuscular control and spatial coordination mechanisms of theatre actors performing complex movements on uneven and inclined scenographic platforms. The study investigates how these variables influence stage presence and reduce fall risks in contemporary Libyan theatre. A descriptive-analytical comparative approach was utilized. A purposive sample of 40 actors from local theatre troupes and students of the High Institute of Art Techniques in Tripoli (2025/2026 season) was selected and divided equally into a high motor control group and a moderate control group. Measurement tools included a 2D motion analysis system (Kinovea), a force platform to estimate Time to Boundary (TTB), and a stage presence evaluation rubric. Statistical findings revealed significant superiority for the high-control group in expanding the motor safety margin and reducing slip recovery time by 38.6%. Multiple regression analysis indicated that eccentric stabilization force accounts for 61.2% of stage presence stability. The study recommends integrating theatrical biomechanics and balance drills into the practical curricula at the High Institute of Art Techniques.
