تعتبر نماذج البراغماتية الوظيفية واحدة من أكثر المناهج تطورا في مجال تقييم جودة الترجمة، التي تركز على الوظيفة التبادلية للنص وهدفه المقصود بدلا من المعنى الحرفي للنص. قدمت هذه الدراسة الوصفية دليل مفصل عن أكثر النماذج الوظيفية تأثيرا في تقييم جودة الترجمة، وهن نظرية نمط النص لريس (1971)، ونظرية الغرض (السكوبوس) لريس وفيرمير (1984)، والإطار التداولي الوظيفي لهاوس (1977، 1997، 2015). وقد أظهرت هذه النماذج الثلاثة مجتمعة التطور الذي حققه مجال تقييم جودة الترجمة من خلال تجاوز الذاتية والعشوائية إلى إجراءات متعددة الطبقات تُقيّم جودة الترجمة ضمن سياقاتها الوظيفية، والتواصلية، والثقافية.
